Everyone who talks about love, talks about forgiveness, but in practice, it is so hard to move on from the things that left us hurting. When no apology for the offense is offered, it is even more difficult to let go of the pain.
When we decided to give someone a second chance, what are we truly doing?
We are putting ourselves, voluntarily, back in a position of vulnerability, begging to get our hearts broken again. Rather than giving someone else a second chance, we are actually giving our heart anther chance at a painful existence.
Why do we give second chances?
We give second chances, because we want to believe that everyone out there has the ability to love, but there are those sad souls who are simply incapable of not hurting the people around them. And those people are the ones who get second chances.
And if we do give someone a second chance, do we not continue to hold on to the past?
Of course we do, every wrong doing will always haunt our memories. We try to move on, but it is impossible to disregard the past, it is part of our experience.
Of course I am writing about this because I am struggling with the decision to give someone a second chance or not. We shall see if the defendant has a strong enough argument to win his case.
